Casper Tolhuisen

Casper Tolhuisen's works stem from a fascination with techniques used in the kitchen. He tries to fathom complicated processes and techniques used in the kitchen and does this by imitating processes which are used to make existing products and objects such as flower pots, pans and aluminium tape. In building the installations that result from this, Casper rediscovers traditional methods of preparation. After this, he goes into the workshop looking for a new aesthetic that can be part of the installation. This results in new installations that show existing processes in new ways.
Casper creates machines; where the other Workmates use machines as tools, Casper uses the machine as a final product. As a result, the production process turns into the product itself.
